Teas from Darjeeling have the same origin and yet are so different. In contrast to black tea, the tender tea leaves for green tea are not fermented. Fair trade improves the situation of many people. In cultivation, harvest, processing and packaging, they receive reasonable wages from which they can live well. In addition, future investments such as schools are possible. The Brij Mohan High School in the Samabeong tea garden was the first project that TPI implemented with the support of GEPA. A guest house has also been built and provides new income from tourists in the region.
Sustainability: We are proud that all GEPA teas are now organically certified or additionally bear the Naturland certification. GEPA supports this valuable work by promoting the conversion, offering courses in organic farming and enabling the realization of ecological and social projects through fair trade premiums. At the same time, we also make sure that our products are completely environmentally friendly. For tea bags, for example, we use organic cotton threads and aroma protection films made from predominantly renewable raw materials.
