Traditionally, Earl Gray is refined with bergamot oil. This gives it a noble tart note, which is countered by a hint of orange and fruity freshness.
Invigorating delights from the best tea gardens in the world
Even today, large, hierarchically organized plantations characterize the picture in the regions and are reminiscent of colonial times. But through the commitment of Tea Promoters India (TPI) a change is taking place. Since the GEPA partner converted one of the first tea gardens in Darjeeling, India, to organic cultivation thirty years ago, many have followed its good example. The participation of the tea workers became a model for all fair trade tea gardens.
In harmony with nature, they not only harvest fantastic teas. Instead, they use ecological methods to secure their future in times of climate change.
Tea cultivation in transition
TPI has introduced social standards that apply to all employees in cultivation, harvest and tea factory. In this way, many people have access to significantly better living conditions, education and a reasonable income.
